Mummy
Tears sting my eyes
as upon my cheeks they fall
Wrenching and ripping
is my heart
as i hear your spirit call
Pounding bare
fast on concrete
Peeling and scraping
the skin off my feet
I enter the woods
branches scratch at my face
The red blood runs
but i keep up the pace
Clothes are all torn
battered and bloody
I found you the same
tore up and muddy
You were not breathing
when i knelt at your side
I cried out your name
I thought you had died
You coughed up some blood
when i pressed on your tummy
then you looked at me
and smiled and said,
‘You made it mummy’
