Moving On

Today is like most other days,
Except that I’ve made a discovery.
It is not something I wanted to face
And I don’t know if I’ll make a recovery.

I have discovered that I’m lonely,
And I remember things I’ve missed,
Like the warmth of a gentle hug
And the thrill of being passionately kissed.

All of this is no one’s fault
Except of course my own.
I embraced the pain of missing you
And I spent all my time alone.

You have been gone for years
But I still think of you now and then
Even that has slowed with time
Starting… I don’t know when.

I still have all our memories
And they sometimes cause me dreams
Of course I have to wake up
Not remembering… or so it seems.

But I guess the time has come
That I shall be moving on
It will be a new adventure
And hopefully the loneliness gone

So, rest in peace my dear
Our memories will be carefully kept
Locked deep within my heart,
Along with all tears I’ve wept.
