Movie of Memories

A broken memory fixed with whisky and pain,
Flashes of light shoot across the brain,
Images come unbidden in recollection
And incredibly clear is this reception
Images moving by upon a reel
Reminding of the ache I feel

I look around and find just empty seats
For the friends I failed to get up and meet
I hang my head and feel the shame
As more images flash through my brain
Images moving by upon a reel
Reminding of the ache I feel

In a moment of clarity my mind awake
I was suddenly struck by my last mistake
Infused with both anguish and regret
Drink to remember not forget
Images moving by upon a reel
Reminding of what I no longer feel
