Move On

Even though it ended as bad as it did, I refuse to let myself remember how bad it really was, But instead I remember the way you were When I fell in love with you, When you were caring, When you were loving, When I truly loved you, Even if that person wasn't really you, That's the person I choose to remember, The person I choose to long for, The person that I chose to love, And that's the person that blinded me, And kept me from leaving so many times, And even though in the end the real you showed through, I can't let the real you desecrate my perception of love, And the way love should be, I can no longer hold onto the past, Or that person, Because I have to look towards tomorrow, And not look back at yesterday.
