Notes About The Poem

Mouse or Mountain

My life is made up of so many stages.
I change as I go through the ages.
A rambunctious child and a shy little mouse.
A loving teenager and a right proper louse.
Through the changes of every season,
There is no uniform rhyme or reason..
Maybe luck from a coin in the Trevi Fountain,
Will change a mouse into a vast mountain.
What I am today, I may not be tomorrow,
Affected by a lottery win or tragic sorrow.
The best I can do is lay a solid foundation.
To nurture goodwill and ward off trepidation.
To always look on the bright side of life.
Helps when faced with trouble and strife.
To always be someone they can rely on,
There when they need a shoulder to cry on.
It’s great to be a mountain some of the time.
A hard act to follow when not in my prime.
It’s nice to know that someone is there.
If I am feeling feeble and need some care.
To answer the question Mountains or Mice,
It’s a matter of preference, both can be nice.

Congrats on 9th place in my contest out of 35 entries. I love the compact description, and that at the end of the day you never really pick which one you prefer. No one else did that!
