Mother's Day Senryus

Happy Mother's Day!

   their small hands bearing lilacs

        .... sneezes kept hidden

box of chocolates

     given with the brightest smiles

        .... diet is cancelled

cards made by child's hands

     making Hallmark obsolete

        adorn the fridge door

This expresses the essence of Mother's Day the most-I treasure everyone of your examples except the diet being cancelled. Wonderful stuff. Gwendolen

Hallmark cards can't hold a candle to thoughtful expressions rom children, Francine. I giggled at the second verse. Chocolates are such a weakness for me too. However, I am sticking to this dadgum diet, even though a friend looked at a "thin" photo of me and said, "You'll never look that way again." Provoking me will make me adhere to this diet ever more strongly. Have a wonderful Mother's Day! Love, Carolyn
