Mother's Day Request

Mother’s Day Request Will you please come home to visit me? I’m getting quite old it’s plain to see. Your Mom is lonely, sad, and blue, This Mother’s Day can’t be good without you The table is set with my best china, It’s time for you to come home to Carolina. There is one empty chair on my right, Make my dream come true, say you’ll be here tonight. My heart always breaks when you’re away, I hope this will give you reason to come and stay. But, if you can only come for this Mother’s Day, Then I will know God heard me pray. Please don’t tell me you can’t be here, It will break my heart and cause a little tear. Even if for some reason you can’t make it home, I’ll continue to send my love where ever you may roam. © Lynn B. Glover

WOW! This is very heartfelt. I can relate to this. I spent many Mother days alone. I only have one daughter, but I love her just the same. Thanks for sharing this poem and for reading ( Easter Sunday )..... lucilla

I was in the Navy when I wrote this and tried to imagine the feelings my Mom went through as she planned her day. I never did make it home for Mother's day during my time in the service. I am so glad you enjoyed this poem and I will continue to keep in touch by ready more of your work. Your friend, Lynn.

Thank you so much for those kind words, Anne, I was in the Navy and could not make it home so I wrote this to my Mom, who died in 1993, but i wanted her to know that I realized how she felt. I really miss her so. Thanks again. Lynn

I wrote this after telling Mom I couldn't come home (Navy- USS Lenawee ) I imagined how she must have felt. My Home town is Columbia, S.C. My wife and I live in Concord, N.C. now, she being from Kingstree, S.C. What part are you from?
