Mother's Day
Somehow it seems more poignant
Its not just because you are poorly
But the person you have come to be
Suddenly life's nature
Though cruel and so sudden
Has brought you closer to me
For years we were drifting
One closing a door
The other trying to get through
And yet here today
You are the Mum I always wanted
Because of the illness bestowed on you
I wish it could of been different
I wish this being within you now
Wouldn't take you to see
That Mum,
You were always there
But now you shine for me
I can cuddle you
Place a kiss on your forehead
And know its what you long to feel
Than all those years
Long now since and forgotten
When nothing seemed real
I knew inside you
You loved us
But there was a battle going on
But now illness has taken over
That battle that kept you from us
Seems long gone
I look at you
And see my beautiful Mum
Feel that you are free
At last to look beyond something else
Your love is like the day I was born
Again, my Mummy loves me....
