Motherhood

A newborn is placed….
tenderly in your arms
Instantly you are mesmerized….
by their sweet charms
The intense pain of birth….
instantly melts away
Replaced by euphoria….
that is hard to keep at bay
Blessed to behold….
one of life’s greatest treasures
Nothing before now….
compares or measures
Your priorities have shifted….
in a subtle natural way
Unspoken promise to….
cherish and protect every day
A brand new human….
that you will shape and guide
A new mother you have become….
fills you with joyous pride

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your "Motherhood" thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.

What a delightful expressive moment you describe, Cecilia...a mother charmed, captivated by the gift of life! Becoming a father is life-changing, but becoming a mother is that and much more! ~ Regards // paul

You have described the journey of motherhood really well here... It is Mother's Day here in the UK, so I thought it would be nice to feature mum related poems.. Congratulations on your placement in the contest..

This is a very tender and heartfelt testament to motherhood. It's wonderful how you express the emotion and change in attitude that occurs after childbirth. It's remarkable and your poems examines the transition with such love.

Dear Cecilia, Your poem touched me deeply because I watch my wife and daughters have children and watch them grow. It beautifully captures the transformative journey of embracing motherhood, from the overwhelming love at first sight to the profound responsibility of shaping a new life. Your words reflect the tender emotions and unspoken promises of welcoming a newborn. This is a heartfelt piece that celebrates the joys and challenges of motherhood. - Blessings, Daniel
