Gershon, I love the last line. Sometimes that happens, baby's can sense emotions. My grandbaby does that to my son who loves him very much. I see his hurt in his eyes. Congratulations on your win in Jenish' contest. Hugs Eve

Gershon, I love it. This reminds me when my 45-year-old was a newborn, and my wife worked days and I worked nights. I would come home around 6:30AM and my wife would be waiting to put our son in my arms as she kissed me goodbye on her way out. Good times!!! Sometimes circumstances are thrust upon us :) ~Mark

Sounds like a relay race, but one that tugs at the hearts, (esp. the mother's heart in most cases). As you put it well: Circumstances so often dictate how we live. Thanks for the n-depth, insightful comment, Mark. Best wishes, Gershon

My ex thought all he had to do was pay child support! Sad he missed out on the best part of being a parent! Still he argues to this day that he did his part in raising the kids but he fails to realize that he didn't raise them at all the kids wanted his time!;(

True my friend and they hold such anger towards him yet he still does not see he was wrong! But I won't talk about him in front of my kids they must decide for themselves what they feel for him!;)

Yup. Kids just want you to be there for them. Some folks never do figure that out! Problem is that it's not just his loss; it's even moreso the kids' loss. On the other hand, at least child support was pad. Sometimes that's a huge problem too. ~ VOE (Voce of Experience. LOL).

Permit me to explain. 'Chopped liver' is a bit of a putdown, such as 'second class' or inferior (quality.) So here, the father is second-class when it comes to taking care of baby, b/c mother s by far the main player... ~ Gershon

Sad, but true for some.

I know fathers who'd rather watch sports than read to or play with their babes... and I know fathers who do more with their babes than their wives do! Different strokes, I guess... Thanks for commenting, and Happy 2020, Gershon
