Moth

Bioluminescent beauty
I am drawn to the hue

I know nothing but the gleam
A pale moonlight blue

I flutter along
Floating on the wind

Enraptured in its gaze
This is all I’ve ever been

A curious creature
Hungry for a path

Maybe it can guide me
To a safe way home, perhaps

Before, I turned to the stars
I got help from the moon

But this light before me
Appeared so usefully soon

Convenience, it is
How kind to me it’s been

A guiding friend
Beckoning me in

Closer and closer
I fly into its haze

It bites and shocks and kills
And then I burn away
