more or less

Were I more or less I might object
But I am neither and proud of it
Oh, I strive for more but not to be it
Settle for less without becoming it

The question arises “more or less of what?”
A new suit will not cover old wounds
Nor tattered cloth o’erwhelm my worth
Though both allow me to be me

Age has added candor to my charm
An ease at moving unseen in a crowd
Knowing that there is a Zen to know
Unspoken truths that make me who I am

Simplicity, the birthright of the day
A voice unsilenced, nothing more to say
A warmth embracing “more and less”
A moment spent within a moment’s now

Hello John, it really speaks to someone who’s made peace with paradox and wears it well. So grounded and graceful. Autumn Blessings, John, Daniel

This poem has a good feel of contentment. Not every bird has to have fancy feathers.
