Morality Is War

The past and I we met once more
as the heavens were opened
to an all familiar war
for the past is a battlefield comprised of tears
battling between wishes and fears

Fueled by an arsenal of disappointment and bliss
deceived by illusions over tired years
courage hopes to fight for what we miss
while memories of pain to our caution adheres

Hello - a hug that can't let go
For touch and scent cannot refute
What well guarded words refuse to show
yet in eyes that love live never mute

I saw hope flutter in your eyes
for all we had once upon a time
with promises of changing ways
leaving me in an incoherent haze

shall parody win the prize of peace
or resolve my initial stance?
will one more go restore belief
or deepen the bitterness of the dance?

A multitude of choices in the balance hang
walk with someone new or try again.
Am I capable of both to coexist
within the framework of Yin and Yang?

Again I'm paralyzed
for what to choose;
Who can date two people at a time?
Must I choose right now between him and you
lest it breed only heartache down the line?

The essence of my character is the reason for the warring
the battle between what's wrong and right
defining who we are when the choices are hard
when morality hits you square in the eyes

Oh the search for the fairytale plight,
enduring the test of time.
Yet the greatest battle
for which a soul will ever fight.

I too was once in this situation. I made an ultimatum and she chose the other guy. I needed a woman who was able to give me her whole heart. It is good to have this perspective of what she may have been going through. Dispite the pain I experienced I do not regret loving her, she was amazing. In the end by leaving I met the love of my life.
