Moonlit Passage

On steadfast passage, I observe, though I surely walk alone… The soft moonlight cannot obscure, footprints among the stones… Have I walked this path before? Perhaps these prints are mine? I’ve traveled far, yet here they are, they’ve stood the test of time. These faded clues, by midnight hue, have filled my mind with déjà vu… Some memories form, then try to leave. But clues belie them I believe… I journey through the dark of night, to validate by morning light. The tarnished traces, memories cast, on stepping stones of travels past…

How I wish you hadn't exceeded the 14-line limit, Cole. I don't think I've read your work before, but this poem had perfect rhymes and brilliant imagery. There were many extraordinary poems in this contest. Congratulations on your placement and thank you for supporting the contest. Hugs, Carolyn

It's always curious to me on how poetries breathe with wisdom and become little pieces of treasure, each one kept in the mind of its reader if it reaches them. Your poems have that impact, thank you.
