Moon-Lit Dancing

The blue rays of the moon above me
Shower me with hope of the surely stormy sea
And the shine help breaks through the darkness and lets me see
But the sight is nearly more that my heart can bear too be

All of them all holding hands in a linked circle feeling free
Their eyes lit up with images of only me
But I am not in the circle they’ve created
And from this fact no one seems the least bit agitated

A tear falls from my face, for the music I could never create
The haunting melody sings my lonely soul to sleep
But when I think it to much to bear
I open my eyes to see them all standing there

With their faces all lit up with happiness
It is so unusual to see such bliss
But they smile and grab my hand, leading me on
And they laugh at my confused smile that has grown

Guiding my footsteps until we reach the destination
The moon is still there, so no more contemplation
And the melody that has been haunting me through my mind
Finally escapes through the colorless keys I will find

My music carried them away to the place where I am
The darkness evaporated; there was no more sham
The giddiness overtook me and I too leapt up to dance
The feeling of the moon put us all into a trance

The creaky boards that made our shoes tap and click
Was as sure as the song that made our souls tick
And always I look to the moonlit sky for the joy of that dance
Wonder if it could again sweep me off for a chance

And one night it happened, so swiftly it came
And as I remembered it, it was all the same
They still laugh beneath the beautiful magnificence of the light
They dance in the moon; all through the dead of night
