Moon Prayer
The moon that graces evening skies
Has shone on those who’ve walked before
And in the glimmer of its glow
I almost see them walk once more
I find that we’ve not changed at all
Aside from fashion trends and such
As lovers still walk in the park
And babies coo at mother’s touch
And though I’d like to say we’ve learned
I see no evidence of that
As tongues still wag and disapprove
Of those with whom we’ve never sat
And so dear moon, if you could try
To shine the lessons of the past
Perhaps we’ll see how we can live
And light the world in love held fast
