Moon Goddess Triplets
Moon goddess triplets by the light of the harvest moon
Give heart attacks to old men, making younger men swoon
Lights of electricity zap out of their locks of hair so fine.
Don’t go toward the one with dark hair says a soldier, she is mine.
The triplets scoff at the confidence of the young Marine.
Intending to spend eternity together, as a unit happy and serene.
His bunk mates make fun of him and his confidence galore.
The last time they saw him he was serenading her down by the shore.
Moon goddess triplets leave the meadows and woods that night.
Animal witnesses watch the beauties until they glide out of sight.
The optimistic soldier has been turned into a glorious white swan.
No one can find the lake on which he is forever swimming on.
