Moon Goddess
Soft moonlight catches the eye
A luminous orb in the sky
A beacon both for you and I
Shadowed briefly as clouds pass by
Cratered deep on polar sides
Reflecting sunshine as it glides
Circling nights on cosmic rides
And affecting the ocean's tides
Sometimes bright and sometimes dull
Crescent, half, or completely full
With shades of ivory and steel wool
Held in check by gravity's pull
This goddess born from astral fires
A song erupts from Heaven's choirs
Poets write of mortal desires
And all the romance it inspires
