Monsters In My Closet

Monsters in my closet
appear in the middle of the night,
a monkey carrying a suitcase gives me a fright,
my red-laced gown starts dancing
all by itself as it is prancing
towards me with extended arms,
showing off its sophisticated charms,
shoes in the shoe bag jump out,
catching bugs like a rainbow trout,
belts hanging on nails twist and turn,
making my tummy gurgle and churn,
boxes on the shelves fall off one-by-one,
crashing on the floor until they are done,
the light bulb in the closet flashes on and off,
goosebumps appear when I hear a cough,
I pray all this will end forevermore
while I run hysterically out the front door,
passing lightning bugs and a night owl,
I am ready to throw in the towel,
tripping over my clumsy feet,
something is covering me----it's a twisted sheet,
I'm tightly hugging my floral pillow on the floor,
squeezing it so hard as if it can't breathe no more,
opening my eyes reality sinks in,
my roommate Poltergeist just gave me a spin.

Very nice poem, written with hard work, of course it is scary, specially when your red-laced gown starts dancing. 7.
