Monster Inside Me

The Monster inside me
makes my knuckles red,
and scratched,
and leaves burning trails
across my hands

The Monster inside me
lashes out at my heart,
and mind,
and leaves scars inside
and out

The Monster inside me
leaves me shaking,
and my heart pounding,
and time frozen around me
in a nightmare

Worst of all,
the Monster inside me
is always there,
judging,
laughing

Hiding under my bed
and waiting in my closet,
ready to scare the crying little girl

Who can all but scream for help
