Monster In the Mirror
The truth is in the mirror
Every time I look
I can see what no one else does
And read it like a book
The person staring back at her own face
Is a stranger in a familiar body
Who can never seem to erase
The knowledge of who she really is
Buried deep in her soul
And so she tries so desperately
To keep a modicum of self-control
So nobody will notice her game
And give away all her secrets
She pretends to hide in shame
But really just gets pleasure
From all the pain and devastation
Caused by her lies and deception
If only the others knew what she was
They wouldn't give her such a warm reception
