Monotony
It’s morning, time to wake up,
get myself a cup
of coffee.
The towel at hand
I wipe the sleep
from my eyes.
“The table’s ready,”
I hear her say,
I’d better hurry.
Brush my teeth,
I’m getting wet,
such a regret.
Go to the toilet,
it’s an outlet
for my, well, forget it!
Put on my shirt,
and then my belt,
how about my feet?
Get my shoes,
put them on,
with a little moan.
Go to the mirror,
see the same face I abhor,
shall I have more?
I’m in the office finally
I’ve got to hurry
to earn my money.
The boss is such an ass
but I have to let it pass
for I still need the job and the cash.
It’s twelve o’clock,
time to prepare my pack,
to home I’m back.
“The table’s ready,”
I hear her say,
I’d better hurry.
Grab a plate of rice,
hmm, how nice!
how about water and a little ice?
Have a short rest
in my rumpled nest
like a lazy beast.
I suddenly wake up,
damn, it’s two o’clock,
time to get back.
I’m in the office again
to work and begin
the same old routine.
Five o’clock, quitting time,
the day is not quite fine
to their lives…and mine.
We are players
of the same old game,
doing the same thing
for nothing?
