Monday Blues

Monday Blues
The Go Train is late, what’s new
They all reach for their cell phones
And make the dreaded phone call
“I am sorry, but the Go Train is late”
“What’s new?” says the unreasonable voice
On the other end of the line
Half-annoyed and half-amused
Raspy and full of static
On hearing the squirming voice
Of the subordinate, oft late
For no fault of his own
Luckily for him, he is not alone
A quick glance around him
Reveals a sea of empathetic faces
Furrows of frustration forming
Tension rising
Monday morning blues
