He perforated her ideas with an axe

She ignored his staunch idiocy
A union between them could never be
She was as open as he was closed and opposed
She exuded honesty, he usually looked stiff and posed
They will never get along, one of us said after another
Opposites sometimes do well, said our optimistic grandmother
