Und Stille im Theater



No laments will help
Culture suffers depression
In these modern times

Empty once fully occupied cinemas
And only silence in the theater



No clamor ayudará
La cultura sufre la depresión
En tiempos modernos

Vacío una vez llenos cines
Y sólo silencio en el teatro

I hope all is well with you-- this write of yours sure paints such a sad thought-- and I can't help but agree with you-- I think this holds true for the local movie industry here in my country-- it definitely is a challenge to bring in more people to the cinemas to watch local movies -I hope you're having a good weekend :) -- nikko :)

When people are suffering here in America, everyone goes to the movies. The last great escape. But if you mean true theater, like live plays. Yes, culture is suffering in that arena! Carolyn Devonshire January 14, 2011 at 5:50 PM When people stop engaging in entertaining activities like attending movies, that's a sure sign society is in a depressed state. Wish there were a way to lift people's spirits, but with wars and economic recessions it's hard to think positively. Very astute observation, Gert. My Spanish must be improving because I could translate that version pretty well. In the German I only got the last line. I'm so glad you're back with us! Love, Carolyn
