Modern Day Nightmare

You hear the knock at your door You hear the creaking of your floor You believe it's all in your head And that your completely safe in your bed A shadow runs across your room You believe it's all too soon You scream but it's to late You're face to face with your fate It's worse then the monster under your bed It's nothing like the demons in your head It's come to take all you own Take you away from what you've known It's the Modern Day Nightmare You're searching for the light But you can't find it in sight You can do absolutely nothin As it starts it's destruction Life passes before your eyes And your completely surprised Look at the time you lost And look at what it cost It's worse then the monster under your bed It's nothing like the demons in your head It's come to take all your own Take you away from what you've known It's the modern day nightmare The time slipped away A little every day You were never there For your kids' scrape or tear You missed band and football games Saying that they were all the same You missed their graduation You missed their life, congratulations It's worse then the moster under your bed It's nothing like the demons in your head It's come to take all your own Take you away from what you've known It's the modern day nightmare Everything starts to fade And you think about the life you made About everything you missed About every lost kiss Death pulls you closer in Now you regret your biggest sin You now are paralyzed Your death has been finalized It's worse then the monster under your bed It's nothing like the demons in your head It's come to take all you own Take you away from what you've known It's the modern day nightmare

Beautiful, but also very sad. May I be so rude as to recommend that you try and write about this little spot of light far away? I'd love to read such poem written in the same style.
