Misunderstood Beauty

Legs, eyes, nose.
Mouth, ears, hair.
Strike a pose
if you dare.
beauty and looks
mirrors reflect.
a girl that has took
so much neglect.
smiles and laughter.
perfect in every way.
you'll never know her.
or what she wants to say.
sadness or fear.
which do you think?
take a guess dear.
what made her sink?
nothing brings her comfort.
except compliments and tiaras.
she don't like to hurt.
but really, who does?
confident and vain
that's not her one bit.
trying to stay sane
is more like it.

Well done. Perfect story of how only looking at the surface we miss the truth that lies beneath the beauty. Smiling and laughing puts everyone else at ease but the pain is always there. Monica
