Misunderstood

MISUNDERSTOOD- by David Lustrup 2017

theres a forcefield around me

built by family and freinds

but its not solid yet,

and sometimes you get in

like wolves waiting for the fawn

to be away from its mother

if i wander, they close in

nipping stinging bites

endless tearfilled nights

someday youll see what you did

on some distant later date

i reacted with pure forgiveness

you thought id retaliate

you labeled me without thinking

not being in the know

you thought that i was someone else

you thought you had to go

so fly now lovely girl

god knows how much i tried

ill be here when the grass isnt greener

on the other side

to let you go learn this

the hardest thing to do

just know that when you left

you took my heart with you

and when the dawn breaks

and you see what youve done

ill be right here with open arms

with love bright as the sun

for you......
