you gave me a penny all coppery bright I spent it for apples,and ate them that night you gave me a puppy ,with long floppy ears I lost it out hunting for christmas last year you gave me a cottage with windows and doors I sold it for baubles an empress once wore you gave me a daughter,with long golden hair she ran off to London,to visit the fair you gave me your heart and your soul and your life I gave you a letter to give to your wife.
