Mistress Merry
you gave me a penny all coppery bright
I spent it for apples, and ate them that night
you gave me a puppy ,with long floppy ears
I lost it out hunting for christmas last year
you gave me a cottage with windows and doors
I sold it for baubles an empress once wore
you gave me a daughter, with long golden hair
she ran off to London,to visit the fair
you gave me your heart and your soul and your life
I gave you a letter to give to your wife.
