Missing You
You left in the warm golden afternoon
While the sun was still shining
But the fiery sun has set by now,
and cold and bitter rain is pouring.
A tear slips down my lonely cheek,
I remember why I’m crying,
When I go down into the kitchen,
I will not find your welcome there.
The sweet note that you left for me
is hidden beneath my pillow,
Now the love that others seek to give
all seems so cool and shallow.
I miss our talks till three a.m.
I miss your laugh, and your embrace
I miss running together in summer sun
I even miss you winning the race.
I miss your patient explanations
of why the summer sky is blue
Your kind and gentle reassurances-
Mostly, I guess, I miss you.
So now my heart starts to wonder,
what’s the point of continuing on?
Is there any purpose to life,
Now that you’re gone?
Then I see our photo on my night stand,
flip through the scrapbook we made together
Everything we said and did-
the memories we’ll have forever.
If you were here, you would remind me,
There’s no need to have these fears,
Someday we will be together-
Heaven will wipe away our tears.
