Missing You

When asked if I could have a single wish
I clear my mind and make my musings still--
What things have been important to me? Friends.

So many wants entangle us, but still
No other blessing can sustain like friends,
No matter who or where, or what we wish.

We once were close, moreso than other friends,
But now we are estranged; I dearly wish
That you were central to my cosmos still,

And wish that we were still the best of friends.

Auld Lang Syne I seem to hear the song singing. Best wishes!

Thanks again, Line!-- I don't think it's my best work; but the form, like a villanelle, say, though superficially easy, is one in which the repetitiousness makes it actually very difficult to say something cogent and fresh, I find.
