Missed Chance

Fair, pretty a little unique,
Shrouded with a dash of mystique..
She intrigued one and all
Holding hundreds in her thrall...
Yet she had eyes only for him,
Her own Adonis, tall and slim..
she lacked courage to make an advance,
Ever doubtful of his response...

He admired her too,
Loved her from far, deep and true..
Never imagining she was anticipating,
He refused to play the game of waiting..
Thinking he had little chance,
He looked elsewhere for romance...
To many a women he did go,
Yet true love he never did know..

Miles apart and years later..
Both of them still wonder..
If not destiny and bad circumstance,
Did their love ever have a chance???
