Miss Translation

she thought
i said limbo
and started
to dance

arching her
back back
farther and
further as

her hips
twisted
and turned
in turn i lowered

the imaginary
bar even lower
just so she could
show her flexibility

I love the title and the play on words. What was your inspiration for this poem?

Thanks for the comment, Dakota... What loosely brought about this poem was that a Spanish speaking friend of mine thought that I had said "limbo", but I in fact had said the Spanish word "lindo" which means "pretty"; that's pretty much that.
