Misplaced - Triolet

Retrace your steps - look back - perhaps
what you thought gone was just misplaced.

Re-read the signs, review the maps,
retrace your steps. Look back, perhaps.

You may find something in the scraps
of loss you formerly embraced.

Retrace your steps, look back. Perhaps
what you thought gone was just misplaced.

Looking back at your first poem I think perhaps I have been missing out on some great poetry.

A lovely Triolet, Lycia. We all misplace something, one time or the other; no problem as long as it turns up again! // paul

Thank you, Paul. Its rare that I write from my own experience but this one was actually about/for someone I had lost touch with

this was a very interesting interpretation of visual three. I think that picture is so intriguing and I love how you developed your theme. Congrats in my contest.

PS - I chose that particular interpretation because even though Visual 3 was a photo of thriving greenery and had a sort of "road ahead" vibe to it, it also gave me the feeling of being left behind, bypassed or even forgotten.

Thank you Andrea. Perhaps in contrast to many other poets, I greatly enjoy the rigid structure certain types of poetry require of the writer and because of this, find the tricky triolet particularly satisfying but your contest brought an extra aspect to the whole concept that I didn't expect: The triolet is already hyper structured and I thought 'narrowing' subject matter down to a few specific pictures would further challenge the ability to work creatively within a tight space but it actually had the opposite effect! Maybe it was just the photo I chose but once I'd picked it, I found that putting my perspective into linear words required a lot more expansion than it did constraint, which made the whole thing even MORE challenging! Thank you so much for the inspiration and the experience.
