MISFITS?

While the couples glide at the Valentines ball,
He sits all alone at the side of the hall.
Clumsy and awkward and painfully shy,
Somehow romance has passed him by.
He would love to glide to the music’s beat
But fate has blessed him with two left feet.
Then he spots a girl on the opposite wall
Who, just like him, has no one at all.
With a courage he’s never found before,
He makes his way across the floor.
Haltingly he asks her whether
They might sit out the dance together.
They laugh now when they think of it.
Two misfits, the perfect fit.

I am delighted to see that your poem is on my winners' list. I appreciate you supporting my contest with your entry. I like the rhythm, rhyme and flow of this one. The topic was a nice one as well. Sometimes little things in common hold a couple together. Sara K

Thank you Sara. I felt an affinity with this chap, having been blessed with two left feet myself!
