Misery
It often comes to earth to visit
Staying with all who will have it
Pulling you down next to its side
Until all of your hopes have died
He wants to trample all over you
For that is what misery likes to do
He wants to take every single one of your hopes
And now he has you up against his ropes
I did not win my last fight alone
But I used the light the Holy Spirit has shone
I used the Holy Spirit to help me soar
Then I picked up misery and threw him out the door
I gathered up all of my dreams
No matter how small any one of them seems
Now I carry them with me as I go about my way
And often listen to the words that they have to say
