Mischievous Angels
Once, not long ago in heaven far above;
Two mischievous angles decided to remind us of lessons better given in love.
As I drove that big black and yellow bumble through town, I was oblivious..
Lights started to flicker and it was acting kind of devious.
I stopped to get a bite, eaten in a hasty state
Cleaned up and rushed back to work, not wanting to be late.
I guess I did not quite recall
to turn off the lights, or unplug the things…that bell did call.
I rushed back to class to do my duty and chore
To comfort, plead, and listen to the students’ snore.
An announcement came over the speaker quite clearly
An expensive mistake, cost quite dearly.
Low and behold, what should I find
Oh! What a bind!
The lights so bright were now so dim and DEAD.
My mind and heart filled up with dread.
The lights shining so brightly, the power was now dim and the consoles dark…
My battery was toasted, its spirit recently departed, and now ghosted, without a spark.
I could hear those angels laugh and chuckle with maybe a chortle of glee
Oh mischievous saints, you sent a message to remind me.
Those two scamps made their presence nearly known
As in life, their love and wisdom still shown.
I was in a safe place, protected from harms way, yet I needed a lesson anyway.
“Slow down and remember we are here to guide you along the way.
Don’t take it for granted that things are always what they seem to be…
I am here if you need me.”
On this day the message was so clear.
I needed a reminder that they are always close by and their presence is near.
In life they would have come to my rescue and saved me
But sadly in their current state, this can no longer be.
Instead they wanted me to use the knowledge and wisdom they endowed to me.
So they sent a near sainted angel of earth-bound variety
She made the trek in racer-car style with cables at the ready;
A calming voice in a tumultuous wind, a calm head, cool and steady.
They may be gone from sight but not from mind and heart;
Love always finds a way and we are never far apart.
Instead of coming in person as they surely would if they were able,
they sent an earth-bound angel with human measure
My beloved family, my dearest treasure.
It’s so easy to get lost and forget the blessings we are given
It’s so peaceful to give into darkness and remain avarice driven…
But we are not alone, we never were,
Of this we can be sure…
Two mischievous angels gave me a lesson today day
That they will forever guard me, and guide me along the way.
