Minerva wrapped the elf Lenore

The elf was wrapped up tightly in lighted string
By a mystical witch who claimed to be a queen
She did not know if she would ever get out
But had been told not to wiggle, move or shout

The wrapped elf stayed there on Halloween night
Werewolves and vampires stopped and stared in fright
The work of Minerva, they agreed; one hid in a small urn
Some were so scared, they ran off, terrified Minerva would return

The witch did come back at midnight as she had stated before
I kept you safe from Halloween, she said to the elf, Lenore
Lenore gave her a nod, and conveyed her gratitude that night
Hoping to slip away, while the moon was sill rounded and white
