Mine Is the Duty To Scream
Mine is the duty to scream
Mine is the duty to shout
My country is bitterly divided
Its Congress can't figure things out
The rich get richer; the poor get poorer
That in itself's nothing new, but
Instead of seeking to forge solutions
Leaders, hateful invective spew
Mine is the duty to scream
Mine is the duty to shout
American's immigration system, broken in every way
Lurches ahead blindly, ignoring those who say
That vice-ridden schools yield test scores so pathetic
Even the heardest of hearts should be sympathetic
To calls for more charters and increased home schooling
Lest Johnny never learn to read anything, no fooling
While America's safety net is strained past its limits
Forced to provide for so many illegals with no stake in it
Mine is the mandate to shout
Mine is the mandate to scream
Venezuela self-destructs right in front of our eyes
As Cuba sixty years ago, it shoud be no surprise
That her leader cracks down on free institutions
And tears up every line of Venezuela's Constitution
Three millions Venezuelans have already left
Now that their economy of oil is bereft
To the cheers of autocrats the world over
Including the leadership of America's Left
All while Messrs Putin and Xi, in Russia and China, respectively
Ramp up their tacit alliance, to bring the West to its knees
Mine is the call to shout
Mine is the call to scream
~ Though hoarse I've become
Pleading to rescue America's Dream
