Mindful
Mindful
He is mindful of the feelings
That he feels when he’s alone
Those emotions raw and scary
He just simply can’t condone
Even though he keeps on trying
To kill them off so they can die
But he still can’t tame those feelings
And he often wonders why
It is just when he feels cheerful
And it happens on a whim
That he notices these feelings
Try to sway and master him
But he’s mindful of those feelings
He shows discernment, self-control
He can’t block their operation
But they will not take their toll
So he promises with fervour
And he even makes some oaths
He will not become the victim
Of the things he strongly loathes
He will neither be a puppet
Of his thoughts and of his mood
And he writes it down on paper
So it is all understood
But, alas, the sin within him
Has a power way too strong
For in an unobservant moment
There he goes and does a wrong.
