Might Have Been

I fell asleep tonight with thoughts so deep..
I dreamed of days with promises we didn't keep..
Morning comes so slow as I step out the doors in space..
A look so far away as I airbrush a smile on my face..
Did I step to slow, or did the train just miss my station..
Your hands are gone, a smile lost with no more destination..
Too many distant thoughts of what might have been..
Lost in my own reflection and forced to only sketch a grin..
Your now a world away and I wonder can you feel me..
Maybe when your lost in your dreams I'm who you see..

Michael I really love this kind of poem that you wrote here. I ended my entry in a similar way, wondering if they still dream of me too. I don't see any congrats for you. And I have not seen the winners' list yet but i hope it was on it. Hey,thanks so much for my win. I really enjoyed the inspiration you gave for me to write that trio of poems! Luv, andrea

A perfect description of how it feels when you miss someone you love. You wonder what they are doing, do they know if you're thinking about them, do they dream of you. Try as we might, it's hard to "airbrush" that smile when we feel this way, Michael. A beautiful poem for the contest. Wishing you success! Love, Carolyn

Michael I believe one can 'feel' another person in mind's eye and emotions so strong they connect luv.. the beauty of your lines in this piece are sweet reflections and we all reminisce of days and relationships that might have been.. resonates in warmth and longings deep.. when I was a freshman I was so ga ga over a junior in college and to this day wonder where it all might have gone if I had not been "Born TOO Late" as the song lines sing..luv..
