Notes About The Poem

This poem is a little early in the season but when  they come to me I have to write them. At my age, they don't stay in my head for long. Merry Christmas.

Midnight Tonight
By Franklin Price
11/30/2016

Midnight tonight begins the month
That ends the current year
Santa Claus and elves are working
To bring us Christmas cheer

The tap,tap tap of hammers
Making wondrous toys of wood
To bring to all the boys and girls
Who spent the past year being good

Reindeer deep in training
For the yuletide job at hand
On Christmas eve to fly the sleigh
To each house throughout the land

Loaded with great gifts for all
When from the North Pole it departs
With Santa on his worldwide tour
A real rock star in our hearts

In the air the sounds of carols
Words and music for us all
The drummer boy is keeping time
The season's reason to recall

To celebrate the birth of Christ
In that stable long ago
A gift from God to save us
The best present that I know

As you wait this month for Santa
Fall to your knees and pray
Thank God for giving us his son
To celebrate on Christmas day

Author's note:
This poem is premature
Of that I'm well aware
Merry Christmas to all early
Must write the words when they are there.
