Midnight Pearl

He took her to a restaurant,
And after that, a play;
A moonlit walk as midnight chimed -
It brought a special day.

They had been married thirty years;
He chose the gifts with care:
Some ear rings and a string of pearls,
And lilies for her hair.

Their hotel wasn’t far away;
What happened next I can not say…
