Microcosm

Here, in this, the darkest grass My tears have all but passed away The day within this night won't last For more than minutes anyway The moon is set, a crystal stone Against the sky like velvet dawn Crimson, blackened pearls shine bright Behind an ever-fading light The night surrounds me Here, I see The purity within what fades From all these empty days And so burns down all that surrounds me As I seek eternal flame True darkness comes to all I see To everything I name Is this not how it's meant to be? Finding shadows of ourselves in every hope we haven't see Can there be more to this reality Than what lies deep inside of you and me The darkness of the seas we hoped to make of memories That prove to be now nothing more than what we always wished we were Oh can't you see How we are blind
