Mickey Mantle and Duke Snider Stand By

Looking down from somewhere up in the sky. Mickey Mantle and Duke Snider stand by. Below, Bronx Bombers, all in their pinstripes, come out swinging their bats, taking their swipes. Dem Bums have Shohei Ohtani and Betts. Get ready, this is as good as it gets. "Play ball", says the ump, to a lightning flash. Big bats heard o'er the land, a thunder crash. It starts raining as, out of the park, it flies. Is it Mantle or Snider who cries?

Thanks Kim! I hope it's a good series. I was talking to an old roommate yesterday, remembering watching the 1977 matchup between the Dodgers and Yankees - been a few years - lol.

This is a fun poem about baseball today with nostalgic throwbacks to the famous old and gone players. It is interwoven in such a way that it keeps my mind traveling in time. Fascinating.

Thanks Hilda. I'm from L.A. and when I was a kid, I was a big fan. My uncle played very briefly for the Detroit Tigers and was with the minor league team in the Dodgers organization for a while. I have a picture of him with Jackie Robinson and some of the other Dodgers. I'm not too heavily into baseball now but will probably follow the series.
