Notes About The Poem

'crackerjack' = 'cracker' = A word inspired by the "crack" sound made by the whip of a slave driver used to denote a white person or group of white people that are punishing peoples of color for bias rules or laws that they themselves created as means to oppress. 

Michael Brown

His name was Brown, his face was black
he walked alone outside a shack.

A siren sang across the track
and signaled clear the next attack.

A man in blue (a maniac?)
took aim and made the morning crack .

Like stones around a cul-de-sac,
six bullet holes frame Michael's plaque.

The Situation August 9, 2023 at 7:21 PM At that time I lived blocks from there. went to the store he last visited. And was shocked with the neighborhood reaction. protested in Florisant. I was there!!!2014 9 years ago? seems like much longer. but it was the height and Floyd came next. Defund the police started back then. Terry O'Leary September 11, 2023 at 1:42 PM Wow!
