Mi

I have a pain in my heart
It started this rainy day
Sitting on your old couch
Tucked my legs up real tight
As you sat on your leather chair
It felt familiar
Only this time you started to talk
Talking of times that weren’t good
And how there are more of these
Than times that were good
My eyes started to sting
I looked into my empty cup
Then I looked outside
At the grey skies overhead
Then at the TV that wasn’t on
I tried to look everywhere but you
It was true, there was more bad than good
But wasn’t that the case for most things?
You told me you still loved me
I said you were a liar
Love was something to fight for
You never did that at all
You were too busy chasing dreams
While I counted your footprints
So now I’m left clutching at my chest
While you’re counting fool’s gold.

Let the fool go on counting -- you have life to live and what a life it will be -- without him! You write with great passion.
