Metaphors and Similes

A metaphor is a simile,
and a simile is like a metaphor,
but what I can't see easily,
is why we must know the difference for.

Well, b/c a simile is so blatantly obvious, bt a metaphor is a subtle way to compare two unlike things, as Emily Dickinson so often did. To wit: 'Fame is a bee...' Bah, humbug to humor! lol

P.S. I just read "Fame is a bee" - great poem, so concise, and I had to think about that last line for a minute - brilliant.

Interesting, I'm going to have to look that one up "fame is a bee", because I can't figure it out...I know - it bites you in the ass! I totally agree - to heck with humor!
