The tonal shift thing. Wow. I didn't even really get what she meant by that till I read your poem. Congrats

Congratulations on your 2nd place win, Krishnanand, with this great example of a tonal shift, forcing the reader to do a double take. The first line is ethereal, elevating her presence. Suddenly switching to ‘sniffing’ changes the mood into something bodily - almost inelegant. It breaks the spell of reverence. Perfectly in line with the contest prompt.

A pleasant and evocative quality of this poem with a clear image and a sense of atmosphere. And appreciate the inspiration from my poem" Time Single Regret", whitch shows a solid understanding of poetic devices on your part.
