METAPHOR TREASURE HUNT

The peasant scrapes charbroiled stones from his field—  
“Hope is a feathered thing” refusing to yield.

Ugh, I messed mines up, starting with the couplet, then you did the brackets like she asked, but got confused by her extensive use of parentheses, hence, after this post, I'll trash my submission and go back to drawing. Yours is not only instructively correct, but beautiful as well. Aloha, my friend.
